A New Project

Hello, everyone!  Sydney here, to announce that I have begun a new Project:

On it, I shall be posting one original work a week for the next year.  I expect to feature a variety of work--photographs, short stories, poetry, continued stories, illustrations, drawing, and even (occasionally) music--all of it created my Moi.  So head on over and check it out!  The first posting of 2014 can be found HERE.

If enough people enjoy it, it may become an official Fish Out of Water project; meaning, that it will feature guest posts from various FOW (and other) authors.  So for those of you who are aspiring writers and artists...keep an eye out, and feel free to send me some of your work at fishoutofwatermedia@gmail.com.  It just might be a good chance to get your work out there!

Sibling Rivalry

Sibling Rivalry

Sibling Rivalry is a short video produced in part by the Fish Out of Water Media team.  Originally a product placement video, it was donated to the April 2013 issue of Patchwork, and was made available for public viewing when that issue was discontinued.  Follow the link and let us know what you think!

Patchwork 2.1

Patchwork 2.1 is now available!
This issue features some of our older authors and artists, such as Mary Kate Colligan and Michael DeBlanc, as well as some new ones like Ana and Nadine Marx. This issue also includes Patchwork's first-ever video submission. You do not want to miss it!

Mail your order to:

FOW: Patchwork
1054 Melancon Dr.
Breaux Bridge, LA 70517

Please note that we no longer accept subscriptions. Due to the nature of this magazine and its necessarily sporadic release, we cannot guarantee the fulfillment of subscriptions. Orders may be placed for one issue only--the issue currently available. Anything other than the $2.00 fee will be considered a simple donation. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your understanding.

All proceeds from this issue go to Food for the Poor. Thank you for your support!

Picking It Back Up

Hello, everyone! We hope that you are having a wonderful 2013 thus far, and that the rest of it is even better.

Last year, Fish Out of Water Media began the Patchwork Project in order to raise money for different charities. Four issues of this electronic magazine were published--two less than originally intended. Even so, FOW and Patchwork managed to raise over $100 for Food For the Poor. This would not have been possible without our wonderful artists and authors who contributed their work and their time to create this magazine. It would not have been possible without the generous patronage of our readers. Thank you all very much for your support!

2013 sees Patchwork once again vowing to support Food For the Poor. The first issue is set to be released at the end of this month (February). We hope to publish six issues--one every other month--but this cannot be guaranteed. All of the content for the magazine is donated by generous authors and artists. They do not get paid; they merely give what they can, when they can. When there is no content donated, there is no magazine to publish. The editors of the magazine work without benefit as well, giving their oh-so-scarce time to check everything for grammar errors, put it all together, format the magazine, and advertise it. We do what we can. We hope that this is what you do as well. You helped us to give over $100 to impoverished families of Haiti last year. Please help us to do it again. Stay with us and watch our progress in the year of 2013. Individual issues of Patchwork are available until the next issue is released, and we will announce when new ones are published. Keep an eye out for such announcements, and tell your friends about us!

To all authors and artists out there...please consider donating your work to Patchwork. If you would like to find out more about how to do this, feel free to email us at fishoutofwatermedia@gmail.

Thank you once again for your support!

With great hope for the future,

July 2012 Patchwork

Hello, everyone!

Our readers have voted, and Mary Kate Colligan's "Forest Foundling" has been named the best work in the July issue of Patchwork (you can find an excerpt of FF on the Patchwork page of this blog)! The story has been running since January 2012 and is still going strong. The plot is really heating up, so I suggest you jump on the bandwagon and read it quickly before it is out of your reach forever.

The July 2012 issue of Patchwork is still available, and will be until September 30th. At that time, it will be discontinued, so be sure to get it while you can.

The September issue will be released on the thirtieth of this month, and will feature some new works by new authors. I'll have a sneak peak up in the next week or so, so keep an eye out!

So far, we have raised over $70 for Food for the Poor, Inc. Please support our mission to feed the less fortunate by purchasing the July 2012 issue of Patchwork, subscribing to this blog, and "liking" Patchwork Magazine on facebook. Please spread the word!

Thank you for visiting our blog and for your support.

Sincerely,
~Sydney Duplechin

OLL & Camp NaNoWriMo

Needless to say, we here at Fish Out of Water Media are not the only ones who support young writers. A non-profit organization called the Office of Letters and Light devotes their all to encouraging people--especially young people--to try their hand at writing. Each year they have contests to challenge you to write a 50,000 word novel in just one month.

Though their main contest is in November (the month they term "National Novel Writing Month"--www.nanowrimo.org) they also have another similar contest in June, affectionately known as "Camp NaNoWriMo". Because many of the works we have published are former "NaNo"s, we feel compelled to encourage you to participate in this project, and support the Office of Letters and Light. Check them out today, and get ready to write a novel!

Welcome!

Hello, everyone, and welcome to the official blog of Fish Out of Water Media! Thank you for dropping by!

We are a small group of artists, authors, editors, musicians, and film-makers who publish and produce books, magazines, and video. We were begun as "White Ivy Publishing" in 2007, but later changed our name to Fish Out of Water Media in order to reflect not only our growing interest in all forms of art, but also to reflect the fact that we are new artists just starting out on our own journey. Our mission is to help other young artists like ourselves while providing clean, fun entertainment for people of all ages.

Please stay to have a look around our blog and learn about some of the projects we are currently working on. If you have any questions or comments about us and our work, feel free to send us an email at fishoutofwatermedia@gmail.com.
